I'm a new owner of a V1JP and I'm generally very happy with it. I'd like to start using it on occasion w/ my monitor at home, a standard Dell LCD. My problem is that the V1JP uses a connector format I'd never run into before, u-DVI or micro-DVI. From the looks of it, I need a micro-DVI to DVI adapter. Does anyone know where I can find something like this? My searches online have been fruitless. Searches on the forums have only turned up informational posts.
I'll have to check my box again, but I don't appear to have gotten an adapter in the box either. For the time being, I'm connecting via VGA but I'd really prefer to be able to connect via DVI.

Mine came with the adapter. Check your box.

From the 'In The Box' section of the V1 page on Proportable.com ( http://www.proportable.com/detail.aspx?ID=202):
1 x uDVI to DVI-D
So you should have it already. -
It is essentailly a HDMI cable it will work fine, but no audio will come out.

hmm... wonder if my box was just missing it from the factory or I somehow missed it. Will have to look more closely when I get home.
Matador--so a HDMI/DVI adapter would work just fine then? (obviously sans audio) -
When I opened my V1J, it was in the narrow, top compartment of the accessories box with the power brick. Battery was on the left under the flap, power cable in the upper right, ASUS mouse on the lower right. The adapter is in a taped-shut bag, about 2-3 inches in length and has a transparent plastic, protective cap on the DVI end.
Was the red seal on the brown ASUS box that it came with intact? Or did you get the white box with the ASUS bag apart without a box?
A standard HDMI->DVI cable should work on it. I have not actually tested this feature yet (I should, since I have a 15in cable and an HDTV w/ an HDMI to plug it to), but many others on the forum have been able to get it to work.

Alas, no cable in the box (the white V1 box, asus branded bag in a brown cardboard box). I think I found the compartment it should have been in amongst all the cardboard foldout pieces inside the white v1 box. Guess it was just a manufacturer slip up. Oh well.
Fortunately I had an old HDMI cable laying about and with a quick run to pick up an adapter for DVI, I was up and running w/o much drama.
Thanks all!
u-DVI to DVI adapter
