    hELLO all,

i've had a g2s-b1 for a few months and recently upgraded my ram to 4GB..

i've been looking at other things which would make the new toy a bit more robust in everyday performance needs.

I've noticed that its extremely slow at ripping DVDs, compared to my pc, 1 hr as supposed to 15 to 20 mins...

anybody know of reliable slim dvd writers which are worthwhile upgrade?

thanks.. i'm also considering just getting an external case for my pcs pioneed writer but i really would like to avoid one more case to carry... thanks for any help!!

I'm not sure but most likely all laptop ODDs will be slower than desktops due to smaller size and power considerations.

Maybe this thread helps you: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=215365

Also note in ripping CPU power also matters (for re-encoding). So the laptop will also be slower due to that.

thanks for the reply, well as far as cpu, thats not a problem.. my old pc is only a 3200+ so its obvious its the dvd reading abilities..

yeh all i've found across the board is the same , pretty much, as the stock one.. guess i'm just gonna have to go exernal case, well cheaper anyway.. just one more thing to set up on the desk but i'm sure it will rip nicely via firewire..

thanks for the thread i'll check it..
