Hi, is it possible to upgrade either the CPU or GPU? From the pictures that I have been posted, it appears that one can at least easily access the CPU and GPU. Has anyone ever tried to upgrade either? Thanks

Only CPU is upgradeable, but the G1s-A1 already comes with the T7500, so there's not much more out there.

Lithus, thanks for your reply. The reason I'm asking is that I'm thinking long term. When the X7900 or X7800 are actually affordable, I might like the option of being to upgrade to them.

Forget the X7900 or X7800. You should be looking at the T8XXX, T9300, T9500 as well as the X9000 Penryns, if your considering an upgrade sometime the next month or so. I know for a fact that the G1S has a new bios that support these new cpus. Keep in mind that upgrading the CPU does VOID the Asus 2 Year Warranty.

Thanks, D3X. So the G1S is getting a bios upgrade that will allow the use of the new Penryns??? That will be great. I'm looking at 6 to 12 months down the road, when the old outdated X7800/7900 will be noticeably cheaper.

Highly doubt the price dropping much, if anything the T8XXX would be cheaper. Besides, you wouldn't want the X7800/7900 older series. Check out this comparison of the Merom vs Penryn.

yeah ive verified this, the 8600 is built right into the motherboard. its barely visible its on the underside of the notebook, the heatsink is built into the base. at least the card is heavily overclockable.

Thanks, rulebreaker. This why I'm asking. There doesn't seem to be a clear answer. Anyone else care to add their input?

Thanks, Chezouff. Please disregard my previous post. I'm posting from my iPhone and rulebreaker's post looked like CPU not GPU on my screen.
