One of my buddies just got a new N90SV-A1 and wants to change the DDR2 to DDR3. He has a deadlined G71V that we opened up to swap the ram but they didn't fit with each other. We are both pretty computer illiterate, if someone can tell us what type of RAM he needs for the N90 it would be highly appreciated. Thank you much in advance.

You can't fit DDR3 ram into a laptop that supports DDR2. The pins are different which makes it physically impossible to upgrade your N90 laptop with DDR3 ram.

The G71 also uses DDR2 ram and that ram should also work on the N90. Both the G71 and N90 uses the standard 200 pin So-Dimm DDR2 ram and can support speeds up to 800MHz.
