hey, I've got a v1s-b1 and I've noticed the power supply is really really hot. Like if you held it tight for a few mins it might burn your hand a little - is that normal? It's not charging the battery at the moment..

My other problem is a bit noobish, but each time I power the laptop up or come back to it after the screen is locked i'm having to push Fn+Ins to disable the Num Lck to be able to type my password in correctly... this never use to happen, i did something the other day and pushed a key by accident but I can't workout how to disable it

problem 1: What is the power rating of the adapter? I have a 60W and it can get quite hot when charging the battery, to the point where it's uncomfortable to hold in the hand.

problem 2: Check the NumLock setting in the BIOS. You can set such that the NumLock is OFF when you boot up the computer. Otherwise I don't know what you did to enable it automatically.

    Power supply details:

    Output: 19 V DC, 4.7 A, 90W
    Input: 100— 240V AC, 50/60Hz universal

Note: I purchased this laptop in the US and am now using it in Australia. There shouldn't be any problem with that though...

If other V1S users are NOT experiencing hot adapters, you should maybe worry. Although be aware that the perception of temperature is subjective.

Are you doing only light tasks when the adapter becomes hot?

How about the BIOS NumLock setting?

Problem 1: My adapter gets very hot also, I think its normal. I got some friends with other brands and it happens also. And not only with computers. It has something to do with AC to DC conversion.

Problem 2: No clue, maybe that thing in BIOS like someone said.

Umm... it depends on usage. If you draw more power, it will tend to get hotter. So if you're always running it at the full speed playing video games, it will obviously run hotter than if you are always using it for basic office work.

My old Z96J power brick would get so hot that you couldn't hold it for more than 5 seconds without getting burned.

My V1Jp power brick gets warm but doesn't feel like it's burning or anything. The docking station brick is even less so.

It could easily be affected by batch and when/where it was made. I suppose quality of AC power can also play a factor.

That is true. My laptop is always using the most power with the work i am doing so the brick gets hot
