Hey guys, im debating between the v6j and w3j and i was just wondering if anyone has any battery life statistics on the two. I will be using the laptop at college, and I am wondering which will have a greater battery life, and also how much the second battery will help the w3j.

According to reviews of the Asus V6J, it gets the following battery times with Battery Eater Pro 2.60. Two models were tested, the one with Core Duo 1.66Ghz + 512MB PC2-4200 ram and 1.83Ghz + 1024MB PC2-5300 ram.

    DVD Viewing:
    1.66Ghz - 151 min
    1.83Ghz - 146 min

    Readers':
    1.66Ghz - 197 min
    1.83Ghz - 181 min

    Classical:
    1.66Ghz - 172 min
    1.83Ghz - 154 min

Will try and dig some numbers up for the Asus W3J.

wow i must say im a bit surprised about the processer difference, from my understanding it seems that the faster processor should have got better battery life, unless either A. something changed from the way they rait P-M to how they rate Core Duo, or B. speedstepping works dramatically different then power now

my understanding was that faster chips ran at the same wattage at max speed as slower chips do, but the faster one would be at max less, and would run cooler/use less power, at lower speeds, thus it would be more efficient

if you are going to really try to compare battery life. I find you should lock the CPU to 800MHZ to get the most ouf of it in the situations you will need. i think they will be pretty much the same at that speed 3-4 hours

if i'm not mistaken tho, the w3j will have the option of a modular battery that fits into the optical drive slot like the old w3v did. it should add an extra hour at the very least.

yah, the W3J has the optional Hotswap bay battery.

Many have been discussing te absolute max batterylife you can squeeze outta the W3J.

We can safely say the 8 cell battery would give 3 hours at the minimum.
The optical battery, well you can ask those with W3V, but lets say 1h and 30 mins top.

So your total batterylife could be something like 4 hours and 30 mins to an absolute max of 5 hours if you have everything off, and screen brightness set to soemthing really low, and CPU set to 800mhz and GPU set for long batterylife.

    Thanks,
