Hi, i read about asus v6v bios v1002, and i notice than, the fan only goes at 1200rpm... with 73º!!! I'm a bit worry because i don't like my v6 running at 73 degrees. I prefer more noise that more temps! What can i do to control my fan speed, or how can i put my fan at 1700rpm again? I try centrino hardware control (thanks peejaybee, the program is great but i can't control the fan, the program says that is not supported by my computer... |What the f*ª^&%$ ?| ). Is it possible to recover later bios versions? I don't think so. Help me please. :(

Getting the fan back to 1700, I can't help you with, but you can get those temperatures down without messing with the fan. Then you can have a quiet *and* cool machine.

I suggested CHC for you to lower the voltage on your CPU, to minimize the power consumption and its evil twin, heat production. There's a thread on notebookforums explaining how you do this -- I used the general method, but I entered the voltages into CHC and let it do the day-to-day voltage management, rather than RMClock. Basically, you creep the voltage downward from its nominal value until you get the lowest voltage that gives you stable performance. Do this for the maximum multiplier and the minimum. You can do it for other multipliers as well, if you want.

I think I read that you can downgrade your BIOS, but I don't know any details. You might look on the ASUS site, or search here and at NBF.

I also noticed that by just setting the options to Max Bat, even in AC, it significantly drops the temp.

I don't use bios 1002a, even so, my temps stay at about 46c, and my fan stays at 1400.

anybody know when this update was released and when a new one might come?
is there any news of anyone working on a better BIOS?
We really need a better working fan, or to have it user-controllable.
that would be the best option.
