the price is comparable, at first sight so are the specs, sony has a lightly smaller screen, but is slightly lighter also ... any comments ...
thanks

Well, how biased would you like it?
-
if you are so convinced about the asus then you may convince me as well ... which I would, actually, appreciate ..

the only thing i noticed other than physical features is Nvidia 7400 vs ATI x1600..

Sony is still more expensive. -
From what I've read in the Sony forums, no one is really thrilled about the Sony keyboards. Asus feedback seems to be much (much) more positive.
Plus you're paying a premium for the Sony name, and frankly...I don't think it's worth that much anymore. -
well, the w3J isn't even out yet. And in the future, the W7J is the better equivelent to the Sony SZ series. Both are 13" widescreens with the Nvidia Go 7400 card.
The W3J is no comparison.. it's a 14" with a much more powerful graphics card, is heavier, etc. Although if they were the same price..I would go for the W3J as you get more for your money.
Personally I never liked the S series keyboard.. the older S2xx had a keyboard that was 90% of full size..while it's not immediately noticeable, I could feel the difference. Dunno if its the same with the SZ. -
If you caught the debacle of sony DRM on their music CDs installing rootkits onto peoples computers (even if they declined the licence agreement) and taking literally lawsuits and months to respond, do you want to trust their computer AND their software?
If all things were even between sony and ASUS, I'd go for the company without the questionable business practices.
Besides if you peruse this forum, you'll find more positive experiences (and end results) with ASUS tech support that in the sony forum. -
W3j, no contest.
-
If you can take the extra weight of the Asus, it's well worth it, no contest. The X1600 easily overpowers the 7400 in the SZ and the keyboard of the W3j should be excellent, whereas the one in the Sony leaves much to be desired.

I've used the sz120 and I think its a beauty. Too bad the quality cant match its look. I've been looking for a thin and light notebook for portability and comfort. 13.3 inch is a little bit on the small side but still comfortable enough to type. 14 inch IMO is the pefect size for productivity and comfort. That is why I'm going for the w3j becuase of its size, power, and for its looks

seems u guys fail to mention that the sony sz series run like a refrig, while we don't know how warm w3j will be, seems some people are complaining that w3v gets hot sometimes.
the one thing i love about w3j that sz120 doesn't have is the modular bay, which gives the notebook a lot of flexibility -
The w7j looks like it will be closer in specs to the sony s1X0
vaio sz120 vs asus w3j
