I am getting my first notebook in a few days, and it just dawned on me that I may have some issues to tend to concerning video drivers.

I plan to setup a tripple boot between windows xp, windows vista x86, and windows vista x64. The machine is the Asus C90S. Considering it only comes with a 8600gt at this point it may very well come with drivers for the card, or have them avalible for download on there support site.

Thing is I wouldn't be supprised to find they are vista only.

On nvidias home page they have drivers for the 7 series "go" but nothing for the 8 series. I suppose the 8 series drivers they have up are desktop only?

So pretty much I just need to know what drivers I can use on all 3 OS's and where to get them from.

I belive I did a good look thru laptopvideotogo.com or what ever site that was but couldnt find anything reguarding the c90.

edit: here is all asus's site has:

    http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

just a manual, no drivers, bios, utilltys ect..

edit2: I think I found good drivers on the laptop video 2 go site. Looks like something I read mislead me and it doesnt have to be notebook specific just card specific and they have several drivers for the 8600gt.

Thing is I cant tell wich to use :/ they have 150 series and 100 series ect.. you would think the highest number is the best, but there are some 100 series drivers that have later release dates than the 150's. Also the INF's dont specificly say moble 8600gt wich leads me to belive the ones off the offical nvidia site may work just as well.

Trial ans error. And/or speak with a tech guy at nvidia for exact information. I am going to get a C90 also, but right now I am saving for a samsung 2.5 IDE flash hard drive. 32GB for $572. Then I will boot to it using the esata port. There is the sata 200GB 7200RPM 2.5 selling for $225 or the 250GB 5400RPM. Both selling now at zipzoomfly.com I would use vista but some programs don,t work yet like adobe audition. If you know a cool music editing software that works on vista let me know. I need it to chop up wave files that are to big & nomilize the sound so I can hear them better. adobe audition works great but takes a long time to edit. Since I am booting from a flash hard drive vista would run great. The C90 specs say it only uses 3GB of memory, so I can buy 2 1GB sticks of OCZ ddr2-800 for $99. Its a good desktop replacement, but it would be nice to see a better motherboard with quad capabilities.
