when i try playing some videos it has funky colors all over the place. while most videos work, there are some that just appear like the picture i linked below.

according to some research it is an ati driver problem, but i have yet to find a good solution to the problem. one way to make the funky colors go away is to disable hardware acceleration in the display properties.

most other people with different brand laptops have been able to get this issue fixed through BIOS updating, but my laptop already shipped with the latest BIOS that is available on Asus' website. i do have the latest omega drivers (3.8.2) for my z70va as well.

is there a better solution to this problem?

try the stock asus drivers. some people have issues at times with omega drivers.

I had the same problem on mine when I reformatted recently (I am assuming you just mean video playback not game performance, if game performance then download the omega catalyst drivers), when I installed windows media player 10 the problem disappeared. Not sure why it disappeared but it did, so try downloading that and see what happens.

i've had that problem... it can be caused by having the improper video codecs installed.

hmmm well i have the same codecs installed in both my desktop and my laptop, but my laptop is the only one that displays video like that sometimes.

i will upgrade to windows media 10 and give it a try.
