Yes, the Asus N50VN-A1B can operate with Vista 64bit, however, you should first ask yourself if you need it as the upgrade can be costly (you'll need to purchase a new 64 bit OS and upgrade your ram). ie. will you need 4gb of ram for your multi-tasking needs? will you be using programs that can take advantage of a 64 bit operating system, such as video encoding?

So many things wrong with this post.
1) You won't need to re-purchase the OS. Vista licenses cover both 32 and 64 bit versions. All he will need to do is re-install with his current key.
2) Upgrade his RAM? First of all... why? I am running Vista X64 on a computer with 2GB of RAM. Are you suggesting that because it can address over 3GB, it needs that much? Not to mention, that laptop has 4GB of RAM to begin with, which means the only way to utilize all of that memory is with a 64 bit OS. Period.
3) Vista X64, in my experience, has proven to be a more stable platform than Vista X86. Even if you don't need 64 bit, it's good to have! 64 bit is the future, and if your PC can handle it [meaning the processor is 64 bit capable - that's the only real requirement! Yes yes, slightly more memory usage and almost double hard drive space on an install, boohoo another 50mb of memory and 5gb of hard drive space... anyway]
If I bought that laptop, I wouldn't run anything but Vista X64 on it. -
If definitely agree with hep as I don't even consider 32bit vista since I have 4gb of ram and don't want to waste it.

I've tried this. Asus nor MS will not issue you another key. On the other hand, if you have a Dell, they will issue you a 64bit key.
The reason why most people want a 64bit OS is so they can utilize 4gb or more ram. I also mentioned that if you don't need 4gb, it might be more beneficial if the OP stayed with a 32bit since a 64 bit OS can occupy more space in memory in comparison to a 32 bit
Again, there are pros and cons for using a 64bit OS. If the OP will not take advantage of the pros, there is no reason for him/her to upgrade his OS. That was my main point. -
You don't need another key! If you take ANY Vista key, you can install both x86 and x64 with that key.
As for memory, that laptop has 4GB of RAM already, so the whole "get 64 bit only if you have 4GB or more of RAM" kind of irrelevant, isn't it? -
it say my note bppk dose have 4 gb of memory why do i have to up grade it
-
Yes, but you'll need a 64bit installation/restore disk which Asus does not include in that particular notebook.
-
My mistake, you do not need to upgrade your ram, but you do need to get a hold of a 64bit installation disk. The one supplied can only install the 32 bit version.

IIRC, only Vista Business and Vista Ultimate can upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit for free.
Plus Vista 32-bit is better than Vista 64-bit if you need to use Windows Media Center. There are more mature audio and video codecs developed for 32-bit vs. 64-bit right now.
64-bit is nice to have, but is not a requirement. Perhaps in a few years, 64-bit will be mandatory. -
To upgrade to x64 for free and without hassle.
