Hey Everyone,
Can anybody tell me if and when the asus W3 will be on sale in Australia and what are the specs of the australian version.
Thanks in advance.

As yet I have not heard anything about the W3 for us aussies. But I assume that we will be running similar to the USA. I expect that the website should be updated in the next few weeks to show this model and I also suspect that there should be a few turning up in March...at least thats what I hope. As for the models I would guess that that is also similar to the states so I'll refer you to proportable etc for a better answer on that question.
I guess time will tell !

Ok,
A quick update the W3A and N, and W5 should be in Australia very soon. There are adds in the latest APC mag and one of the local distributors for ASUS is now listing the W3N on preorder (see link below). So my guess is that retail stores will have this model in the next few weeks. March is looking like a great month for notebooks!

thanks for the update.
you mentioned the w3a and w3n, but what about the w3v, will that also be coming to aus?

Not sure I only saw adds for the V6, w3A & N, and W5 series. I'm guessing time will be the best answer.

hey,
Does anyone know if there has been any further word on the W3V arrival in australia, or if we are even getting the W3V.
How is it that a country like australia, closer to thailand than the US, is way further behind?
Im starting to run out of time -
No more info as yet, but its not a matter of being behind, its just that ASUS has different policies for different parts of the world, so some places get some models while others get different ones. For eg we got the WSXGA M6 while the states only got the WXGA model, I saw this as a bonus for Aust and many Yanks were jealous.
We also got the W3N (which the states never got), and in real world performance will be just as fast as the 'V' model, it is probably also gonna be cheaper, and if the early sonoma benchmarks are anything to go by it will also have better battery life. Thus if your after a W3 like notebook I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the N model, esp if your in a hurry to purchase.
Anyway I still think the V model if it comes to Aust is at least a month away.

The W3 has been on sale for the past couple of weeks. Capitol Computers in George Street in Sydney have one on display, as well as a V6000V.

Yes but that is the W3N not the W3V which is what raging bull is after. The main difference is the the V is based on the new intel 915 chipset with pci-x, while the N is the older 855 chipset with agp.

In regards to the W3N, it only seems to be available in the 1.6Ghz config in australia.
If i were to purchase the W3N i would want at least a 2Ghz config.
Any chance of the 2Ghz config becoming available here??
