    Hey all,

does anyone know where I might be able to purchase a 4-cell main battery for my w3j. (preferably an online merchant). My 8-cell is great and all but im near an outlet most of the time so im looking to decrease the weight of my w3j by using a 4-cell instead of the 8-cell it came shipped with. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

yah, but apparently they dont ship with the North America models. I was wondering if one of the resellers would be able to order one from ASUS.

How does the weight of your notebook matter if it's plugged in??? Yank the battary out altogether and run off AC

4 cells were made for the W3v - but I think the rest of the world smartened up with the W3j. You save a matter of a couple ounces.... it's not exactly 1/2 of the regular main battery. However, you do get half the life. When you're looking at getting about 4 hours out of your W3j with an 8 cell, you're looking at 2 hours with a 4. You won't get it in North America and since I don't Asus even offered it on the W3j and because the W3j's battery is slightly different than the W3v... it wouldn't work...

If you want to make it lighter then take out the DVD burner and throw in the modular travelers drawer. Then you could also get the modular bay battery, and not use the primary batter... might make it a bit lighter...

Mike: You dont want to carry your w3j around without "something" plugged into the main battery slot. Trust me, you'll c when you get yours (did u decide between the w3j and w7j yet? :) ) you will also realize how much weight the 8-cell battery adds to the laptop.

Thanks everyone. The optical drive is actually really light so removing is really pointless. Anyways, i guess i can live with my setup. I guess i had expected it to be a little lighter. Other than that, its a great machine.
