i'm planning on getting the w3j and just want to check out the equivalents from other brands and compare its value and so on...

i know there is the a8jm but i think the w3j aesthetics is a lot nicer, but i'm not sure what there is from the other brands and how they match up to the w3j.

    None. :D
Why would you want to part from the ASUS family, let alone the W3J model...
It's hard to beat such a well rounded machine.

Compal's HGL-30, I was also dead set on getting the w3j until I noticed that the Compal has equal, if not more features than the w3j and costs less. I kinda like how it looks too :)

I think the Compal HGL30 is on the level of A8Jm as opposed to W3J in terms of build quality .... performance wise, I think all 3 are pretty equal...

While you can put together a comparable machine to the W3 in terms of components, you don't get the materials and construction of the W3. Yes, you pay a premium for it, but you get what you pay for ;).

In the Asus line the A8jm is a good alternative, as is the W7. Outside of Asus, I'd probably stick with the Compal.
