Just did, eveything works great. Here are the fixes that come with the new BIOS according to ASUS:

    BIOS 210
1.Update new VBIOS to fix bug that the LCD display has garbage when LCD is tilted at a certain angel (ATI Radeon X1600 issue).
2.To protect the plastic case from being melted.
If LCD is closed and CPU temp. over 90 degree C for 5 minutes, then system will do hibernation automatically.

Also, I wasnt able to use the above link and had to go to the ASUS support page. For those having trouble, try this link: http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/W3J/W3J210AS.zip

If that doesnt work go to support.asus.com and get it from there.

    Cheers

The graininess issue occurs with the new W3jp Merom models as well. My stock bios was a W3JAS.209, I just re-flashed it with the new W3JAS.210 version and everything seems to be a-ok.

How's the logo in the 210 version? Centrino or just Intel like the 209as beta BIOS?

Intel...at first I thought it made it grainy again...I'll have to play with it a bit more and see.

no the graininess is definitely still gone. the mind can play some awful tricks on you :) and yes this version supports merom as well.

According to GenTechPC, this might just be the official version of the beta 209a that was passed around earlier.

    Well someone has to ask...

Anyone tried to boot a vista disc to see if that's been resolved?

Has anyone been able to confirm whether the version 210 on the ASUS site is in fact the same as 209A that we flashed earlier, or is 210 newer again and worth flashing?

    Thanks

My Internet Explorer udated itself to the latest vesion "7" or whatever and the graininess has come back (but Firefox is still fine).
When I tile the two it is very visible. Anybody else noticed this?

I did the original Bios upgrade (a few months ago).
Any Idea on what I should do next?

Can't tell the graininess in IE7... does it only happen in IE7? What about comparing www.comcast.net in both browsers?

    FYI -not a Bios problem.
I fixed the IE 7 fuzziness in the EI setting page:
Tools/Advanced/Multimedia/ untick "Always use Clear Type for HTML"

I have a new W3jp model as well with the T5500. I haven't upgraded the bios, but I don't really notice the graininess. This is my first laptop, so what exactly should I be looking for?

Look at certain colors - grays, dark blues - from a little below where you would normally look at the screen. You'll probably see speckles and static. That's the graininess. The BIOS on Asus' website takes care of it.

It's definitely hard to see, but it's there. Confirmed that the W3jp w/ T5500 has the graininess. I'll update the bios in a few and see if it gets rid of it. It's most definitely visible at the comcast website mentioned.

    EDIT
Downloaded the 210 bios from the ASUS website. Installing it was the easiest thing I have ever done. Gosh, I remember the old days of putting it onto a floppy, rebooting, updating, and hoping your computer wasn't completely screwed up when you restarted. Graininess is gone!

    Thanks!!

Fix worked wonders, but just one complaint. Black text seems to have a problem showing consistent color. What am I talking about? A perfect example is the ASUS language selection site. Notice how certain country names appear to be darker in color than others?

Great BIOS though. After flashing to ver 2.10 everything feels as though I've got a new computer; needless to say I noticed the fuzziness problem ever since I powered up my new W3Jp a few days ago.
