My w3j is locking up seemingly at random while playing CSS with the HL2 engine. It did it with the stock drivers, so i updated to the newest (7.1 I believe?) and it seems BETTER, but it still is doing it. Just locks up repeating the same sound byte over and over. It can get back to the desktop some of the time, other it can't. Is it my drivers? Is it overheating?

I'm running Source on a W3J using the Omega drivers with no problems at all. I've had issues with other Catalyst versions in other games however.

does it lock up and stay locked up?

my game has been locking periodically at the same intervals but its happened to other people and they believe its some sort of hack. If its causing your game to crash though its gotta be the drivers (anything better than omega 6.9 worked good for me 6.12 the best) =/

I just played for a while and it was fine. Maybe it is a hack of some sort. I don't know. My performance got a little better over the stock drivers atleast :)

EDIT: I can usually try to ctrl-alt-del out of it, but it doesn't really get me out of it, just makes a mouse appear and the sound stop. Sometimes it eventually kicks me back to the desktop (hitting the shutdown button seems to kinda work) and sometimes it just refuses to budge
