Is it awful? I popped in a game today for the hell of it (I'm cosumed by studies about 8 hours a night). I noticed something strange though, my mouse felt like it had massive lag on it. I went into the config ini for the game and turned off mouse smoothing and it improved a wee bit...however the lag is still detrimental to my skill because it's an FPS....whats the respons etime on the w3j screen?

The response time on the screen most likely is not your problem. Check out your graphics settings and turn them down to low. What game are you playing?

All notebook LCD panels have the exact same response time, so I'm not sure whats wrong there. PLus, in your situation, the response time doesn't even affect it, since the 'massive lag' is quite vague, you mean it stalls?

If it was the LCD response time lagging, you would see a mouse trail and image ghosting.

it's like i move my mouse and the game doesn't respond immediatly; it's probably .30 sec behind my physical movement.

My frames are stellar, I'm running at like 75fps when this happens on raven shield

Odd, what type of mouseware are you using? This could be the problem. I know I've had problems with my Logitech drivers before.

Then its not the LCD, it looks like something else.

Is the mouse lag only there when playing a game?

I presume you've taken a look at all of the mouse related settings before making a blanket statement about the laptops screen?

...especially considering you get 75FPS like you say in Raven Shield...

16ms isn't bad at all, I've gamed off of 16ms screens and I've had no problems. Did this just start occuring or has this happend from the start? And does it "lag" outside of the game?

no it doesn't happen out of game, only in game... I've messed with all the mouse settings possibly in game to no avail. I just got this laptop like a month ago and its the first time ive actually tried to game on it

I believe this is the correct lcd

25 ms. now its more than possible the 16 ms one has reached the market now for ones for sale now. but its quite possible it has not as ell.

this is the Crystal brite screen 220 nits.

now the other auo screen could not be used but when the cho screen reaches the market it could be used.

It would be quite nice if these resellers could tell you the lcd used but they often want to keep the information unknown or just as often just have no idea. Anyhow Im describing the likelyhood that w3js will use different screens but Im not sure how we as consumers will know.

a 25ms response time would definitely produce ghosting. different lcds use different response times. just trying to deal with some of the incorrect information here. blur around the moving object. this 4 year old lcd im looking at right now is 25 ms it definitely ghosts but its tolerable to me.

    No it is not.
    1. that one is a wxga+, the W3J is a wxga
    2. A W3J owner already posted what display his used by going into device manager
    3. from that information, its a CMO lcd with 16ms response time.

    Actually, it can't be AUO....

    Its a Chi Mei Optotronic(CMO)

But definitely not one from the CMO website...Both the CMO LCD screens models and the AUO models aren't the same specs and don't have the right model number. And they are both 1280x800 while the W3J is 1280x768.

Though no information can be found about that model except for used lcd screen sales.

Yes, it's Chi Mei Optoelectronics (not Optotronic). But CMO's website does not list the correct one for W3J (1403), which is 1280x768.

Yea but still N141XA is not the same model as N140A1-L01

N141XA supports 1024x768...so its not a widescreen model but a standard aspect ratio lcd panel.

I've been gaming on my W3 for a while now and i've also noticed some "extreme lag" in fps's, like i'll move the mouse in BF2, Doom 3 or R6 and the veiwpoint won't react for a moment, it's not due to screen blur, it's a tangible amount of delay in seconds - not fractions of a second, on occasions it's obvious it's just the bluetooth mouse powering down. but sometimes it's not being resolved until i reboot the machine, at which point it's normally fine.
Does this sound like a mouse driver issue?
Should I be trying to re-install both the bluetooth and mouse drivers? it seems a little too irregular to be a driver issue IMO but i've been wrong before...

Hi Brigand21, I just installed BF2 in my W3J today. I set it to run at native res (1280x768) using the widescreen hack command line with all the video setting maxed. As you can see in my sig I have 2 GB of RAM and use a Razer USB mouse. I get more than 30 FPS mostly and I do not feel any lag in the pointer movements.

I do not use the bluetooth mouse (and never use it because I gave it to my mother), so maybe the culprit of your problem is the mouse? Maybe the setting or maybe you need to pair the mouse again. Or try to use the touchpad first.

I never noticed any problems playing CS:S with my Razer mouse. Try using your touchpad to make sure its not the mouse? I know you can't play with it but just to test it out.
