I'm having issues with my w3j's screen. If i press down a little bit on the palm pad it turns off, if i try to move the screen FORWARDS it turns off. But not if i push it back. I really don't want to send thing in until i get home for christmas break. Is there anyone who has had this issue before and had it resolved?

The LCD connector may be loose, and the position differences could explain the issues you're getting - if I'm correct, the chassis has to be taken apart and the cable reconnected.

You should probably be fine if you are careful in the meantime.

You could disassemble the chassis, but you will void your warranty and you risk making it, and many other things, worse. If you can make it, just leave it then let Asus fix it.

does that void the warrenty? I thought you could access that part of your comp without removing any of those stickers

I think it's quite easy to access the LCD signal cable and inverter cable -- at least in some laptops this can be done. You need to remove the keyboard. Then push the cables neatly in :) I believe a W3J disassembly manual was circulating around the forums. The warranty is not voided by removing the keyboard.

But, if you're uncomfortable with doing this kind of things I second what Caleb said, send it in.

Also there is a fair chance the cable itself is at fault (wear/loss of insulator, for instance). In which case it has to be replaced, and that you cannot do.

Ok i have an interesting issue. If i press hard down on any key on the right half of the keyboard my screen turns green. This doesn't happen on the left hand. Also i noticed in the external monitor im plugged into, it doesn't seem to be an issue. Could it just be that something slid out of its place. I took my keyboard out to see if anything was there, but it looks like most of everything is covered. My screen really flips out if i push the g or h key own the hardest.

It can be any number of things, actually.

Either: obtain a disassembly manual, and see how you can get to the LCD signal & inverter cables. See if reseating them does the job. Check if anything else is loose in there, while you're at it.

    or send it in.

    It's up to you :)
