i had the w3v for about a year now

and the heat is getting pretty ridiculous

whenever i play games, the keyboard gets pretty darn hot and sometimes the laptop just freezes

yeah if i had the choice i wouldn't have bought this laptop again

Is this happening to anyone else? I've heard such great things about W3V's from only people on this forum and I'm surprised to hear an issue like this would be plaguing the W series.

Make sure the fan underneath your keyboard is operating.

Mine randomly got 'stuck' the other day.

I have the W3j and it barely gets warm...the right palm rest slightly and that's under load (playing games for hours...etC).

You probably haven't cleaned out the ventilation paths in a while and it's clogged up...or you're setting the laptop on the wrong surface...aka...your lap or some other material that doesn't dissipate heat well.

Maybe there's a problem, but you're not giving enough to judge whether it's a hardware error or operator error.

Use compressed air to clean the vents, also you may want to take it to your retailer and ask them to look at it and help you, and bring ur compressed air can with you just in case.

    Good Luck.

    Thanks,

If you try the compressed air/air compressor make sure to blow the air through the vents on the sides & rear of the laptop so the dust/lint comes out the bottom of the laptop. This is the best way to make sure you keep good airflow. (and not to blow all that dust into your machine :))

If this doesnt work, take it to your retailer and have the fans looked at.

    Hope this helps. :)

Any laptop gets clogged up after a while and starts to run hotter. especially smaller laptops like the w3v. You have to maintain it like anything else to keep it like new.

I think the laptop runs hot, too. I haven't played many games yet, as I just got it the other day. The fan is on continuously, though it's pretty quiet. I've underclocked already in hopes of some cooling off. By hot, it's not burning hot, but it will make you warm if it's on your body.

I'm thinking people who really notice the heat have upgraded their hd's to a 5400 or 7200 RPM drive (i upgraded to 7200). Maybe the 4200 owners don't notice anything?

2nd day of full use with this thing - I upgraded the BIOS yesterday (before I read that when someone else did it, the fan ran constantly) and sure enough the fan is running constantly.

Sucks, thinking of giving it back.
