Hey guys, just want to run a quick survey for w3v users on how fast their CPU goes up to 50C.

It takes about 10-15 mins for mine. (P-M 740) The vent on the side gets hot also (if you keep your arm there for awhile you could probably singe some hairs.... Hmm.. a new Brazilian wax? :))

Oh yeah... Do your fans turn on? I don't notice mine turning on. I dunno.. or maybe it doesn't make a sound.. (which is good)

Are you running your system at full blast all the time? If so that's not really a good way to use your system anyway, but it has a lot to do with how hot it'll get.

I run my z63 with P-M 740 at full blast when on AC power, and with it undervolted it will stay at around 43*C. The ATI card in the W3 would probably add some heat, but I would recommend you try undervolting.

Oh yeah. When I have it plugged in its on full blast. But when I'm on the road just using the battery I have NHC do dynamic switching which just bumps it down to about 800mhz. (Undervolted)

I have always used dynamic switching, even when on AC, so most of the time my CPU is ambling along at 800MHz. For the dynamic switching I use SpeedSwitch XP from http://www.diefer.de/speedswitchxp/ . As a result, the CPU in my W3A only reaches 50C after about 5 minutes of 100% utilisation.

Well for me, normal room temp with cpu dynamic switchin (800mhz while away from keyboard), it will stay below 52C degrees, if i'm surfing the net now and its staying average 50C degrees.

Don't worry so much about hearing the fan or not...if your temps are in the 50-60 range, you're absolutely fine.
