So I thought it might be a good idea to update the bios to the 502 version on my w3v. Now that I have done that, the fan is blowing more than before. I.e. before with dynamic switching and CHC it was running at 1200rpm when the processor ran at 800MHz, but now it seems to run more often at 1600rpm. Kind of annoying - does anyone have the same problem?
Does an option in the bios about speedstep take care of this? What option do you have anyway? I think the way it came it was set to disabled, after putting the new bios it was on automatic. I switched it back to disabled because of the fan, but seems not to make a difference.
Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

ASUS recieved alot of flak in this and other forums for the 'heat' that the W3V produced. Thus it is likely that the newer bios has changed the thresholds for the fan..in an effort to appease people. But as always this means that others will be annoyed at the increase in noise. The best idea is to find a bios that suits your personal tastes and stick with that one, only upgrade if your experiancing problems....if it aint broke dont fix it.
If you search thru the forum there is a guide for reverting back to an older bios....think it is in a post about the M6N series.
