where can i find one and how much do they cost? I'm looking into buying the w3v and it's at the top of my list but I would like extended battery life while using wifi and i thought the optical bay battery would help with that because I wouldnt be using the optical bay that much anyways when Im on the go. Thanks!

Check out proportable's site. I bought my W3v and bay battery from them. I believe the bay battery was $120.

Battery life with the optical bay battery installed is very impressive. I have between five and eight hours of law lectures and tutorials each day, and my W3V has yet to need power before the end of a day. Most of the time I'm just notetaking and surfing the internet (er...researching precedent) using wifi and 1/2 screen brightness (which is plenty).

I am heavily undervolting the notebook, however, and using CHC am running it at the minimum multiplier (max battery ~ 800Mhz). The speed is adequate for most tasks. I certainly haven't missed the optical drive (at least now that all necessary software has been installed).

I purchased my battery from Computers and Parts Land in Melbourne, Australia for $210 AUD (~$150 USD), but that probably isn't of much use to you, risforrad26. I believe most of the major resellers stock them.
