I have been trying to increase the pointer speed of the touchpad for quite a while now (going through control panel and mouse), but unfortunately after restarting my w3v, it goes back to the old speed. It is kind of annoying, because moving my finger over the whole pad moves the pointer only a little (or let's say too little for me). Any idea why this is, anyone had the same problem? I have a logitech keyboard/mouse combination for at home but if I increase the pointer speed in the logitech software I still get the same behaviour of the touchpad.

Could someone please try to increase the speed and restart on a w3v that does not have an external keyboard attached to it? This way I might be able to figure out if it is the logitech stuff that is interfering or if it is the synaptics driver. (I think I have the latest synaptics driver running).

    Thanks in advance

In the lower right hand corner, next to the clock.... click on the synaptics touchpad icon... check the settings in there........ if you shut down and then turn it bac on, you shouldn't have a problem with the settings staying put.

doing this leads me to the same menu as if I go through the control panel... the problem is still there, after each restart the pointer speed of the touchpad is where it was before my adjustment.

Well it shouldn't be....... are you restarting or shutting down and then starting back up? Are you applying the changes?

hi. i had this same problem on an older notebook. i assume that you have the logitech setpoint software installed to increase the functionality of your wireless mouse and keyboard? i believe there is a bug in that software that resets the touchpad settings whenever you switch from wireless mouse back to touchpad. afaik, the only way to fix this is to uninstall setpoint and use default windows drivers for the wireless mouse...

thanks for the info, that is kind of what I thought too. I will try later again with an update setpoint software and will see what happens. The bad thing is, that I have a wireless keyboard and mouse combination, and I think there is no setpoint software for only the keyboard. I will try to figure it out. Thanks again

just in case someone else runs into this - I used the setpoint software only for my keyboard now and not for the mouse (I have a wireless combi) and now the pointer speed for the touchpad stays at where I put it. So it seems to be the logitech stuff.
