Is the design and build quality the same on both models. In your opinions which one looks better. From the pictures the W3V seems a bit sharper looking.

The build is the same. The W3V has an Aluminum lid. The only reason you should choose one over the other is if you want a dedicated GPU (W3V).

The W3V does look better than the Z63a...although this is totally subjective. The Z63a is actually quite good looking in person... but so is the W3V.

As for build quality...they are the same. Both are built very solidly.

Ah. I'm posting up a review of the w3v with pics on another site. It's a pretty good looking machine. But the z63a is not without its style.

I've seen both in person and it really depends on how much you want that brushed aluminum lid and dedicated GPU. (Coincidentally, I just ran 3dMark05 again and I got 1222 3DMarks :D Awesome)

I'm gonna buy a Z63a within the next 1-2 months, unless I spot a good deal sooner. Maybe the prices will drop once the Yonah models are released. What is the Z63a's lid made of, if the W3V's is aluminum?

    Carbon-fiber and plastic.

I came to the W3A (=Z63A) after having a couple of computers (Fujitsu S series then Sony S series) that had metal lids and was a little worried about the strength. However, it has proved to be equally strong. If the recent Asus sales hype about carbon fibre is to be believed, then carbon fibre is the superior product.

There are no pics, but a "refresh" suggests the same chassis and that's what will happen when they refresh it in most likely April. I don't think it'll be a different color... but basically that's all they'd change if they do. Usually they do change the shade every year just to keep it fresh.
