Just like the topic says, NHC hangs when I try to enable fan monitoring. Anybody else with a w3v experience this?

Yup - do not click on it! It isn't compatible. ItÂ’s happened to me and a few others on this board.

Ah and I thought there was something wrong.

Hey AuroraS, Lamb went crazy today on the notes.. I can hardly keep up with the diagrams... LOL

HAHA... I don't even follow what the diagrams represent sometimes; those darn 3-D representations "in perspective"... so hard to replicate on paper. He's so good at drawing them though...

Yeah. Gah.. I should bring a camera to class..

Now if only the w3v had a built in webcam that swivels like the w5.. Hmm.. LOL

Wow. Until this moment I always thought the built in webcam was stupid... but now i see it serves a purpose for the collegiate note-taker, such as myself. My MSPaint diagrams don't always come out as well as I'd like (however, my german teacher did get a kick out of an illustration I did once...)

It does seem like a good idea...although I don't think the resolution on such cameras would be good enough to provide detailed, usable images for notes.

I noticed that using NHC to underclockin w3v's x600 ATI's graphics down to 50/50 mhz gpu to memory respectively still consumes slightly more power on battery whereas ATI's control center which has powerplay, when enabled to optimum it already consumes lesser power on average, even better when its in battery saving mode.

Yeah I noticed this too. That's why I use Powerplay instead of the graphics settings on NHC.

However, what I don't like is Powerplay only provides you with 3 settings: Plugged In, Max Battery and Low Battery. When I have it plugged it, I've set it to Optimal Performance (the max setting) and for the other two, I set it to Max Battery Life (the lowest setting)

I've noticed though that when I have it plugged in, the graphics card runs full blast (400Mhz/250Mhz) and contributes more to the heat coming out of the side vent. The CPU temp also goes up by a few degrees.

I wish Powerplay had more settings or a dynamic switching like NHC's cpu control. It would be cool if when you're just doing normal tasks when you're plugged in, the GPU clocks down to lessen the heat. But if you're plugged in and playing games, it clocks up to take full advantage of the GPU.

Yeah PowerPlay is so liimited in that respect. But since it knows the good clock speeds for the GPU, it clocks down nicely. Maybe I should pay for NHC so I can get more profiles? Do these profiles switch dynamically?

I admire Asus engineers for making fitting such a powerful computer in this form factor. I just wish they had more vents so that the CPU doesn't heat up so fast. Maybe put some vents on the underside or on the front so that you can have airflowing through the hd chassis.
