I'm debating between the w5a and the z33, the w5a is beating it soundly in all aspects including style points (plus it's easier for me to buy a laptop that comes pre-configured as close as I'd like it than doing a lot of customizing thanks to the supply system), except for the damn internal wireless mouse reciever.

Aside from just being confused as hell as to why they put it in, I've got two question:

    A) I've never seen a mouse that worked with any other form of wireless recieve unless specifically designed to do so. Hell, I've got two logitech mice, one came with a keyboard/mouse combo and the other is an individual mouse the next step up from what came with the set, and I have to have both recievers setup because the individual mouse will not talk with the combo set reciever. How does the Asus laptop get around that?

    B) What are talking about in terms of quality? I can go out and buy one of those Kingston (I think that's who makes them, the ones where you put the usb plug into a carpartment in the mouse for storage) mini-mice specifically made for laptops, but the internal usb reciever is so crappy, I lose the signal even inches away from the thing.

    Edit:
Oh yeah, any interference come from the wireless intereface if I use a wired setup?

I don't want to connect a keyboard to it, I was using that as an example in that most manufactures don't allow other equipment to work with a reciever unless specifically designed to do so. So if I decide to buy another wireless mouse, would it work with the reciever (as Asus advertises), or not?

The integrated RF receiver will give you no problem at all.

I use 3 different mice with W5A but I have no problem with it.

At home, I use the Asus provided Logitech cordless mouse with the built-in receiver.

At work, I use another mouse with USB receiver plugged in. It's a gift from my co-worker who bought this in Taiwan and don't know the name of it. But it's small and has 5 bottons that I like.

On move, I use Logitech V500 and also have to plug it in.

As long as it's the same kind of mouse, cordless mouse for notebooks, it will connect without a problem.

Otherwise you need to connect the external receiver to connect. It's not going to be interfered. Well at least I've never had a problem with this.

So when it's not cordless mouse for notebook, it's just like any other notebook that you see. I think it's plus if you use the specified mouse. But if you don't want to use the provided mouse, just simply ignore it. You don't even need to disable in Device Manager or anything. It's not going to interfere with other RF devices.

The built quality is as good as any other Logitech mouse. It's the same thing as what Logitech is selling in many stores. I'm sure you've seen these somewhere at like Staples, Compusa...etc

It's NOT going to work. I've tried many times to make it work with the V500, no luck.

    V200, no luck.

I also tried MX700, No luck.

And also something called, click, anyway no luck.

However I've tried different cordless mouse for notebook, the one given by Asus, it works just fine as long as it's the same kind. 3 of them.

For all other kinds, the external receiver is needed
