hum...a second factor that adds in to my custumer insatisfaction....
first I got a loose screw in the lcd housing and
now I noticing the the paint quality on the silver finish and the led status light (next to the mouse) is really bad quality
let me explain. Normally I clean my keyboard and my touch pad with isopropyl (rubbing acohol) and I been doing that for ages on my old Dell I8100. It did a superb clean job by taking the grease out the the keyboard and touchpad.
However with the my new W5a with a simple rub I manage to take out the paint on the led indicator (plastic cover for the 6 led indicator). My issue is why the heck Asus didn't apply the paint from inside instead of outside. Also I notice that the silver trim also suffers an alergic reaction to isopropyl. Normally good paint don't react to isopropyl!!! I'm a person that cares about the look of the laptop so I tent to clean t every week to keep it shiny. Normally water will not remove any grease path and most of the cleaning solution are alcohol based. How the HECK does ASUS want me to clean my lappie??? The following picture describe what I ment for the led indicator (as you can notice all the paint is GONE!!)

I'm starting (sorta) to be dissapointed!!! :(

I've got an S5 that's been around the world (laptop magazine, tech tv, regis and kelly, a college dorm room, around europe) ..... and that paint is still there (the s5 and w5 have the same little panel) ........

With no disrespect - you'd be a fool to clean the paint with alcohol....... what do you think is going to happen? Asus doesn't expect you to clean your laptop with anything but a damp cloth...... and nor would any other company.... it's the alcohol that took it off..... I might have some of those extra little pieces that I could dig up for you though.

IPA is used in the industry because it dries very quickly and is also an organic solvant. Most paints are organic based... Of course you will disolve paint regardless of quality. Wanna try acetone or white spirit?
Seriously, IPA is very good to clean electronics, metal or even silicon to remove all types of crap including paint when the surface to remove is delicate. (I am a ChemE working in semiconductors...)

To be honest, the LED status indicator looks just as cool with or without the paint there.. I still think it looks cool :p
It's the blue LEDS that people notice anyway

if you go to compusa or most computer stores, they will have alcohol free wipes that will do a fine job cleaning the laptop as well as the lcd monitor.
