    Hi,

What type of Hard drive (Brand) is in the W7J?

Will there be the same 'click' problem in the W7J as in the A8JS? I have had the click problem with my 4-year old Toshiba, which while OK is something which I certainly want to avoid.

    Thanks!

There are no "click problems"..... I think one or two people may have reported that out of the entire first shipment... it's not normal.. and all Asus systems basically have the same drives.

On the W7 - they're been switching between Hitachi and Fujitsu...... 90% of the Core Duo's came as Hitachi....... so far, 90% of the Core 2 Duos have come with Fujitsu. They're both 100gb / 5400rpm SATA drives.

Like I said - the Core Duo models basically all came with the Hitachi's (except for some of the last shipment which came with Fujitsu's) and basically all of the new Core 2 Duo's are Fujitsu's - although I'd give the 90% there because Asus uses Hitachi's whenever avaialble and only switches to Fujitsu when supply is low, so although they're both good drives, Asus gets drives from Hitachi at a better price because it's what they use in most of their units and the systems they build for other companies... so in time I'm sure they'll be Hitachi's again and I don't want to tell people that I'm 100% positive they'll all be one or the other.
