Hey guys. I've got a W7J and i have my laptop set to do nothing when i close the lid on both battery and plugged in. I expect the notebook to actually do nothing when i close the lid (other than turning off the backlight). However when i do close the lid and have downloads running, after closing the lid, and opening it again, (nomatter how long i leave it closed for) it will disconnect my wireless internet (ethernet connection to the net stays connected its just the wireless that disconnects). I'm guessing this isn't normal? Does anyone know how to rectify this problem?
I turned off standby and hibernate and sleep and all of that. The screen ''seems'' like it gets refreshed as well as having the backlight light up when i open the screen. (refreshed like when the screen switches resolution when you run like a fullscreen game).

    Any help appreciated.

I can confirm the brightness is reset to max when the laptop lid is closed and then open, at least on some models.

About the wireless: is the wireless card turned off, or does the wireless just disconnect? If the latter, it could be an electromagnetic interference problem. The wireless antenna is in the LCD, so probably when the LCD is closed there is too much interference with the notebook components, and the coherent wireless signal is lost. This would be especially true if the wireless signal is not very strong at your location.

    But it's just a theory :)

You could try various driver reinstalls and upgrades and such (wireless, ACPI) but I don't think it's worth it. Anyhow the notebook cools (a bit) better with the lid open, so I'd suggest just keep it open during downloads.
