    Hi I'm about to buy a LG LM70 or a ASUS W3V.

I'm more lean towards the ASUS b/c it's about 600$ cheaper than the LG and it's more " metallic" less plastic. I normally live in Montreal, but now in Hamilton for a Workterm and will buy either LG or Asus here. There's no store that sells the W3V in Montreal. I was wondering once I get home if somethings goes wrong with my Asus who do I have to deal with???...Do I have to ship my computer to the dealer or directly to ASUS (on my own expense)???? I always own a Dell so never had to pay anything to ship the laptop back to Dell. Can someone help...
    thnx

I just bought a W3V from startech. I have not received it yet, but I did read the warranty info on their site. For startech, they said I would ship it back to them (i guess at my expense) and they would fix it or send it to ASUS and then send it back to me at their expense.

To clarify: this is only for startech. I would imagine that other quality resellers would have similar policies.

I copied and pasted the following from starpcs.net site.

"Warranty does not cover shipping expenses, the warrant is a Depot warranty.

    Warranty repair:
Product that fails after the first 2 business days is covered by the manufacturerÂ’s warranty. To determine responsibility for the repair the customer must call our customer service department for assistance. A service representative will diagnose the problem and attempt to remedy the problem by phone. If this is not possible the customer will be advised to send the unit to Star Tech or the manufacturer, which ever is the quickest means to resolve the problem. Star Tech Customer service is always ready to help. If returned to Star Tech, Star Tech will pay for ground shipping back to the customer."

    Fishfood,
Thanks for answering this one, however I must make some additional comments.

    LaZzZy_Dude,
Depending on if you get an Ensemble configured or unconfigured is where the choice is made.
If it is unconfigured, then you send it to ASUS.
If it is configured, you send it to your dealer (if that is their policy).

Hope that clears it up a little.
