I have been searching for the perfect notebook for college for the past few months and thought I had finnaly found the perfect one, the G1. That is, until I found out that ASUS doesn't offer an accidential damage protection plan.![]()
I might just be overly protective of my stuff, but I want my notebook to last all through college. I don't want something stupid like me tripping on the power cord and pulling the G1 off my desk, ruin my major investment, and leave me without a computer for school.
Should I settle for a lesser or more expensive notebook just because asus doesn't offer an accidential damage protection plan or am I just really paranoid about this kind of stuff?

If you need accidental protection, you could look into Safeware - they offer insurance for theft and accident damage, and they've always been a good deal for me (especially when something fries which ought to be under warranty, and the mfg tries to shirk responsibility - Safeware's paid for itself several times over in this manner). It's not as convenient as having on-site - they can be slow - but it's far better than nothing if your heart is set on your G1.

You can also get insurance on the unit, aswell, some sellers also offer additional accidental warrnaty, but with a price.

wearetheborg Notebook Virtuoso
How did u get to cover the repairs when things "fried" ?? Getting fried is not an accident.
And how did the mfg manage to shirk responsibility.
Please elaborate on what happened. -
If you go to Eddie's site and go to the customize area and he will offer this type of service for you on a G1. You can extend the warranty and cover the LCD too. Even get a overnight clone replacement if something goes wrong with it. It will cost you extra. But I am sure you already knew that.

how much are we talking for this extra accidential coverage with safeware?

warranty as a deciding factor?
