ok so the reciept for my new asus k50i seems to be lost :(. was bought from best buy not more then a week ago. although alhamdulillAllah theres nothing wrong with the laptop (i dont think so atleast), but i just wanted to know, can u get warranty without a reciept, and im asking about both international and us warranty.

also, is the box required for warranty or can i just throw it away?

How did you pay for it? If you paid with a charge card they can easily print it for you at customer service. If not, they might or might not be able to find it but if not you can call corporate and they can. I also exchanged my G71 and they didn't require anything but the laptop and power cord.

well actually a cousin bought it for me, i asked him and he bought it with a debit card (thank god).but anyways, why is the reciept even required, like when i go for warranty , i wont go to bestbuy i will go to asus, what good is bestbuys reciept there... shouldnt they have data on their system regarding warrnaties and stuff, plus theres a sticker on the back of the laptop that says warrnaty 12m and some date, shouldnt that be enough..

Well without a receipt it is hard for ASUS to know when you bought it.
The warranty is starting on the day you purchase it and usually ASUS needs a proof for that when you try to RMA your device.

You still have warranty. Without reciept your warranty will start from manufacturing date of laptop. Date can be found on the bottom of laptop. That rule applies for all Asus service centers worldwide.

I don't know about USA, but in Germany you don't need it.
But it could be useful in case you have to send it back to ASUS. In that case you don't need to search for another suitable box.
After repair, usaully ASUS don't send it back in the same box. They use their own generic boxes.

That means if you bought a notebook that was manifactured a month or two ago, then you have already lost some warranty time.

Yes thats true, but it's better than loosing it at all if you lost your reciept ;) .

I do not believe the original box is necessary here in the USA, either. Just so long as it safely packed. I suppose you could go to a UPS store and have them pack the G73 in one of their shipping boxes. Besides, knowing that I would lose the original box is why I would look for a different method to ship it back. If I decide to sell the G73 a year from now, having the original box is a plus.

although i hope not, but incase something goes wrong, i wont be sending the laptop 'in the box' i will be taking it there. guess box wont be required then.

as for losing the warranty time, im not losing much AlhamdulillALlah, just two months.. and, if nothing happens to a laptop in 10 months, its almost certain that no 'manufacturing flaw' wil take place in 12 months either..
