I thinking of buying a new asus notebook, can anyone recomend a asus model which would be suitable for web design. I will primarily using flash and dreamweaver, etc..
Thanks

I am using the V6J for that very thing...Dreamweaver, PhotoShop, etc and I find that the screen is GREAT for design usage and the size make the notebook very portable at the same time.
Hope that idea helps...I recommend that notebook highly. Very happy with it. -
well i would also say the v6j for a smaller screen but if u want a bigger screen go with the w2j

Just make sure you get a widescreen! I'm tired of looking at all the websites that don't 'support' widescreen resolutions and have a bunch of blank space on either side of the screen!

This is actually a bit of a tough question because I've found that some designers are really irked by the color reproduction of laptop displays. The older V6Va models with the IPS screen will look gorgeous, but not everyone that views your sites will have that same luxurious displayBesides, you probably want to go with a Dual-Core notebook if you're going to be running intensive Macromedia/Adobe apps.
I might suggest going with a Z96j when it comes out, just to have the benefit of higher resolution (more workspace!) -
i've used dreamweaver in the past and its probably a good idea to get a laptop with at least a 15" display..widescreen helps too so the z96j sounds like a good idea..if u want the same config as the z96j right now..hp's nc8430 fits your needs nicely..however the display is not glossy...not sure if thats a problem for you or not

For web design the most important thing would be your display. With that being said even though the V6Va would be awesome, with those IPS screens.
The Z96 sounds like it would be great too. It's not that you'd be designing for the full resolution (of the Z96), but rather it'll allow you to design with more of your layout visible with your toolbars around it. -
I am also a developer and I am very very happy with my choice of the V6J. The high resolution is great for using IDEs with lots of panels (Flash, Dreamweaver and the like), and there's a great sense of color (for a laptop). In my opinion widescreen is not so hot for developing because you want height for reading code. I think it's an ideal computer for a developer that wants a relativlely portable computer. If you do design only (no coding) then a widescreen model may work too, but in my experience you want a nice balance of width and height for most design/development work. At least that's my preference.
You might also want to look at the Thinkpad T60 15" models, the ones with the FlexView screens, which are high-end, non-glossy displays.
