looking at this laptop:
Lenovo 0769-A9U 3000 N200 15.4" Notebook PC
Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 Processor 2.2 GHz / 160GB Hard Drive / 2GB DDR2 SDRAM / Fingerprint Reader / WXGA TFT 1280x800

what would be on Asus side as alternative to this notebook, taking in spite durability, build quality etc., for 1300$, as this Lenovo cost? Only W3J or there are other options?
-
W3J can no longer be found new. The V1S is a good 15.4 option but I'm not sure you can find it for under 1300.
I'm pretty sure there are many F and A series 15.4 ASUS notebooks that will match or beat the above configuration. With, or without, dedicated GPUs. Downside is battery life, I'm not sure how it is on the Lenovo but on ASUS it's pretty bad. -
As EBE mentioned, the W3J is no longer available. Try the Asus F3SA-A1 or the A8SC-A1. Both are priced just under $1300, however the Asus laptops will have better features i.e. built in webcam, bluetooth, ABGN wireless card, glossy screens (can be for better or for worse depending on the user), DVI output (for A8SC-A1), eSATA port (for F3SA-A1) etc. In terms of battery life, it is poor compared to other notebooks. You'll get about 2-3 hours of use. Build quality wise, I'd say the T-series is slightly better due to their roll-cage design. However, Asus notebooks are also among the highest qualities currently in the market. Customer service/ repair services are also top notch (at least in North America). Oh, and don't forget the standard 2 year international warranty + 1 year accidental damage warranty for all Asus ensemble notebooks.
what asus can offer?
