None of the Ensemble models have hit US shores yet. Arrival dates on C2Duo updates are just eta's at this point, but should make their way into the retail channel over the next couple of months.

that means only certain resellers who offer barebones/whitebook systems might have it then right?

should i go with a barebones and customize it myself or an ensemble?

I don't see V6J on Asus Q4 list for NA, only Lamb. VX.

There are a few Asus models that can be upgraded/customized with merom core 2 duo cpu's. Even fewer merchants who offer it but the w3j and v6j are two of the models you can get customized with merom.

there are supposedly some that wont be able to be upgraded but others still yet to come that might be compatible.

I was thrilled to find that the v6j was one of the ones that can be at first but now think i may just buy stock v6j for great price and buy and install c2d cpu separately later.

speaking of those makes, i'm finding it hard for my pick of the Asus v6j or w3j to stack up against my wifes Dell and HP picks which just seem to have more power/features extras etc and somehow for less money so its tough and hard to justify

i just feel like the Asus has more soul then the big dells or hp.

though hp have been better including and especially looking better but still, i'm fighting for the Asus but afraid my wife is going to win the case for the dell or the hp based on that we will get more for less money

    Asus w3j, w7j, v6j, z62j, s62j, z62f MEROM update

at least those are the models the one merchant has. that is the actual thread too and there was discussion about other possible models that will soon have an upgrade for them at least by this mechant prob soon others and then official release by Asus though not every model available for upgrading to a merom cpu is neccesariily slated for an official asus stock c2d release. i've seen no word of plans for any v6j c2d release.

just the Lambo VX i guess as someone said.

s62 series (vbi) must end in 'm'... they needed a new fab spin to support merom.
s96 series (vbi) needs only have the appropriate BIOS update
