well as the title suggests, i wanna know what is generally the top one out there specially for the g51vx-a1.
from what i see it seems that the 186.81 ,186.82 , "185.85 DOX" are the ones to go for but i am not sure. based on your experiences what do you think is the best?
specially for Arkham Asylum and crysis and other graphically demanding games

ya this is the one i am using right now and its great however i wanted to check
the feedback on the other 2 drivers
in arkham asylum it tells me that my driver is old so i was wondering if the other 2 will be better. i know i can just try them and see myself but i am 2 lazy to keep doing a clean install for each driver until i find the one i want lool

186.81 works great. I think I have the highest G51 score with them.

Despite saying it is old, it provides more frames than stock in your games and is the "gamers choice" in regards to drivers on mobile nvidia card. Don't worry too much about, I gained 5-10 frames in crysis when I went from stock to DOX drivers, they do provide a good added boost in regard to speed in games ;)!

My vote is also on 186.81 WHQL. Dox's drivers run pretty darn hot on my 9800m GS as it was expected, so I switched to 186.81 WHQL

I'm curious on why your WEI is showing 6.5 for the GTX260, whereas i'm only getting 5.8 and 5.9, using the 186.81 WHQL drivers as well (the ones from the nvidia site). Not that the WEI is an indication of real world performance, but it still makes me wonder.. have you by chance, overclocked your card?

in vista the best you can get is 5.9 with out using a utility to change to something abouve the 5.9 it only lies to the wei here is the file to change up to 9.9 as an attachment below... see

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/...sta-experience-index-rating-with-systempoint/

in windows 7 the highest is 7.9.... Windows 7 is newer and ms upped the scores max to 5.9 so a 5.9 in windows 7 is 5.9 out of 7.9..... now that is not as good as in vista 5.9 out of 5.9... a 5.9 in vista will not get you a 7.9 in windows 7...., see link below

Yeah, that's kind of weird. My 3650 gets a 6.1, no joke. I haven't even touched the file or anything, and I haven't overclocked it at all. The GTX 260M should be at least three times as fast.

did you download the drivers from this link and are you using the RC or the RTM? I use the RTM...

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winvista_win7_x64_186.81_whql.html

Also use all the latest drivers for the laptop from:

Best Buy Version Windows 7 64bit
    http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

download everything and install. I would do a fresh install first of the os with a delete of the partitions ((expect restore partition)

I just went to laptopvideo2go and downloaded 186.81 but when I tried to download the modified INF file, I'm told "Error: The request for '/infs/185series/18681_win7x64/nvac.inf' was not found on this server". How can I go about getting the INF file for Vista 64bit? Thanks

I was able to download the driver, just not the modified INF file (from laptopvideo2go). I thought that I needed a modified INF as well.

no, you shouldn't. modified infs are for cards that are not supported by the driver release, the 260m is supported.

Thanks! Now I understand. On my F3SV I had to use the modified INF files.

yeah asus wont allow us to use the same driver on the g71gx-rx05 for some reason even through it is the same card as in this model. I exchanged the g71 for the g51 at best buy

So is 186.81 still the best? I'm using the latest 195.62...

Are dox drivers edited drivers or something? Why do you gain more fps? Does it overclock the gpu or is it just better optimized? Does the gpu run hotter using the 185.85 dox driver?

General guideline is to stick with nvidia.com if you want stability. Go with dox if you want performance.
