Most manufacturers offer a free upgrade to Windows Vista, if you buy their notebooks now.

Vista based notebooks should be available from early next year.

i saw lots of sites that say, it won't be a free upgrade to vista..
it will cost 50% of vista price..

i'm thinking of buying a8js in december this year..

will vista be like the same as XP? or it will be in a year later?

If you buy an Asus laptop with XP Pro between now and March 15, Asus offers a free upgrade to Vista. From XP Home you need to pay for some sort of upgrade of your choice. You can check out all of the details here. With that in mind, pretty much any time in the near future is a good time to buy. The most recent models won't be changed much for a couple months so there's not much else to wait for.

The only free upgrades to Vista are going from XP Pro or XP MCE. Microsoft is charging the upgrade fee for XP Home only.

Not sure what you mean in your last comment..... Vista will ship to the public sometime 1st qtr '07.

i meant that vista is new and not like XP, so will it be the hottest and powerful windows for next year? or will it be in a year or more later?
    sorry for the confusing words...

why is the date that asus gave to buy the laptop is between now and March 15?
do u guys have any idea about this date?

i thought the date gave us the answer about asus laptop vista-based launching date..

Is the upgrade from xp pro to vista buisness going to be 32 or 64 bit? In the link I notice it says you get vista buisness x64 when you have pro x64. It doesn't say anything about xp pro.
