    what's your idle and load temperature of gpu and cpu on g51-rx05 best buy edition?

    i bought one for friend and both cpu and gpu were idle at around 60-62c.
    is this normal? it was right out of the box. i heard this g51-rx05 best buy
    edition had horrible cooling but even so this seems abnormally hot as
    my gateway 7805u with x9100 processor idles at 30-35c(25c on boot)
    and 45-48c for gpu idle. even with hours of prime 95 torture test, my x9100
    never went over 75c on gateway p-7805u.
    should i be worrying about his laptop or is it normal for that model?

    Your temperatures are normal.

    For G51 the processor hovers around 50-70C for the P7350. Other processors have different readings but most get to 60ish.

    GPU idles around 59C and tops around 102C for the most part, it depends on your ambient temperture and all. Since both the CPU and GPU are sharing the copper heatsink, your overall temperatures are higher due to the hot GPU.

    Keep in mind the Gateway is a 17inch laptop with a less powerful GPU. The G51 cooling system was designed for the previous 9800M GS so the 260M GTX tends to get rather hot.

    My cpu idles around 47-48c and the gpu around 53-54c. At least thats what HW monitor is telling me at this moment.

    How did u get that CPU to idle at 36C? My P7350 even with a cooler does not go below 40C..

    I find that my GPU temps go down to 50C and the fans turn off until it gets to 60C, and this process repeats. Doesnt anybody else get this? my temps cant stay consistant as the fan keeps turning off :(

    If it heats up higher than 60C, your Powermizer isn't working right. That means you're running 3D clocks while reading this page.

    Combination of MX-3 TIM, lots and lots of copper, holes, an Xpad, and a relatively cold ambient of 67-ish.
