I think im going to go ahead and buy a G1 laptop for college. However, I'm willing to wait till the end of summer less or more until i buy it. This way hopefully the price will drop by then.

Will the price drop to perhaps 1500 or less anytime soon?

do you think there will be sales on it during black friday?

are you talking about the g1s with the santa rosa? if so, i doubt it will dip below $1700....usually asus keeps the price point the same and upgrades the components.

    i can speculate.

back to school promotion, perhaps? i doubt they will decrease the price, but they might add an incentive. however, if you need a laptop for college (i just bought mine) you need to go ahead and buy it.

    3 reasons.

1st- you need to know how to operate it before you get there. you dont want to spend your time figuring out how the nuances of the machine while you could be doing homework/party/meeting people.

2nd- you dont want to spend 3-5 days of college time enjoying your new toy, if you have a 3-to-5-day-new-toy-enjoyment period, like i do.

3rd- you need a buffer time in case something happens. it could end up taking them a few weeks to ship it to you, on a fluke. what if they just run out of hardware? when school starts, you will be pissed if you buy it and they take their sweet time shipping it out because they are short on stock. or if there is a defect or significant problem, you need time to be able to ship it back to them. etc etc etc.

thats what i thought through. i bought my macbook pro last week!
