If you purchased your Asus in the US, you are covered with Asus' global warranty. This means that you will have access to the local Asus service centers worldwide, so you won't have to ship it back to the US. Also, I'm fairly certain that the free shipping both ways is only available in North America.

Usually, if they don't have the parts at your local Asus service center, they will help you order them. You won't need to ship it back to the US.

If your notebook is under warranty, then you won't have to pay anything for parts and labor. What I meant about order the parts, is if your local Asus service center doesn't carry the specific parts that are needed for your notebook repair, they will order them for you (free of charge) from Taiwan at their expense. The process may take longer, but they'll have it repaired.
