Try local computer parts retailers - you can often get a better deal from them than ordering online.

Any more?
thank u. -
Hi,
Well I just got mine (M6BNe) at Sigmawave, a computer store in Montreal. They sell whitebooks and notebooks, there's even a very nice system configurator on their website. I think they sell both in store and online. Check it out :

Hi everyone!
I'm going to buy the M6Ne, and have a few questions.
I have experience assembling desktops but never done it with notebook's, I dont think i ll have problems assembling M6Ne, with guides i found on your site, so maybe to assemble it by myself? (what ab warranty when you assemble it by yourself)
(before visiting your site I was going to buy preassembled from ETCcomputer.ca)
1: Do anyone know a store in Toronto GTA, so I can pick it up by myself? or maybe Asus store somewhere here?
2: What type of LCD to buy? (never used 1280x800) Going to play games, watch video, internet browsing, Photoshop, word processing.
3: Is it wise to spend extra ~60CND to take 1.6GHZ instead 1.5GHZ? (Dothan)
4: What perfomance increase I'll get with 7200rpm instead 5400?
5: How to avoid bad pixels when buying notebook? Check right at the shop?
Thanks a lot!
It is my 1st notebook so i'm noob in this and any advices will be appreciated.
\sorry for my bad english [8)] -
hello, everyone
a quick question. is the asus m6 available on sigma, memoryexpress, and etc "official"? like, do they come with all the manuals, cds, and especially the 2 year international warranty??
-
I purchased my ASUS M6N from ETC. It didn't come with the ASUS 2 year international warranty. Lastly, the utilites that came with my notebook were a manual, driver cd, nero, dvd software, and some software to make dvd movies and videos.

Don't know about the ASUS Warranty, don't think so because it's a "whitebook". Anyway, I do have a parts & labor warranty from the store I bought it so it's no big thing.
Digi..
1) Nope
2) 1280x800 is fine for almost everything, not great for gaming because many games don't support native widescreen resolution. If you want a laptop for gaming, you should stick to the regular XGA or SXGA+ screens.
3) Yep, Dothan is worth the extra $$
4) Similar to desktop HD, but 7200RPM will hurt you on battery life and heat.
5) No bulletproof way to check for dead pixels. Anyway it's pretty uncommon to have this kind of problem from the start, you should be ok.

the ASUS may be more of a whitebox, but it does come with the a 2 year international warranty. it seems like some shops offer those models, and some don't.
how do i go about knowing which shop does have those "authorized" models? do i just ask them "yo, do you have the 2 year warranty" ?

PC Warhouse Direct in Richmond Hill can customize any model Asus notebook. I got my M6BNe, 1.4GHz, 512MB, 60GB 7200RPM 8MB hard drive with a combo drive that burns both CD's and DVD's, for $2115 plus tax.
They also sell all the other major brands. I've dealt with them many times and wouldn't purchase anywhere else.
