    which 17" is best

    yeah yeah i know its a crazy question...

    Heres my issue. My beloved G2s crapped out on me and im now on the hunt for a new laptop. Im very partial to the bigger 17" monitor and I dont really care about weight.
    The question is, if i DONT go for the G series Asus laptops which one would be simular in performace or next closest to G series.
    $1000 to $1500 is my approx price range.
    I was looking a bit at the N70SV-b1 but i would like to know what other peoples opinions are since i havent been in the laptop hunt-n-spec scene in quite a whiles.

    Well I've spend a few days now doing some really thorough laptop shopping and decided that the G71Gx from ZipZoomFly is the one for me, $1900.

    HP has some really good deals on their site for the HDX18t though which is easily in the under $1500 range. HP has a great coupon code out there for an extra $300 off.

    Sony Viao has some nice deals too. Just curious why you wouldn't want the G series?

    a buddy bought the G71GX-RX05 and had all those heat-and-shutdown issues with it. He returned one and tried anothre , same issues and no fix. He switched to the G71GX-X4 and had issues with that too. Three G71 series laps he went through and 4 months of headaches.
    I dont want to go thru the same thing so im edging away from any G71 right now. Im sure some are having no issues with theirs but its kinda hit and miss.

    did he ever update teh bios? the new bios only has that issue when coming back from sleep. new G71's should have this bios preinstalled.

    I hope so cause I just ordered one. I plan to get a laptop cooler or prop it up on the power brick so I'm not too worried about heat. I'll let you know. I'm getting the G71GX-A1.
