If I am planning to upgrade a EEE PC to a SSD with an extended battery. May I know which eee pc is easy to perform the upgrade ? (by just remove the bottom panel and swap the drive)
Please advise.

The 1000HE, 1002HA and N10 series will have a user-upgradable hard drive through the back panel.

Thanks for your advice, David.

1005ha or 1008ha but 1008ha is hard to upgrade.

If the 1008ha gets 6 hours of battery as today's nbr review suggests, I think the 1008ha is the best pick. If money is an issue, the 1000he might be a better pick if the price drops.
I heard that you can upgrade the ram and hdd at an Asus service center. I just wonder if all of the ppl that buy extra ram for their netbooks actually use the extra ram. My 1000he works fine with 1gb. -
The 1005ha looks to be the best buy if you want/can wait a while. It is going to be like the sexy 1008ha, in one of its variants will have up to 10.5 hrs of battery life, and *supposedly* has a removable/replaceable battery unlike the 1008ha.
Only thing is I don't see why Asus would release it so soon on the heals of the 1008ha, the two being so similar. I wouldn't be surprised if it is also more expensive. For me battery life is a big sell, I want the most I can get. So considering that I'd say the 1000HE but if you can wait then its the 1005ha. -

1000he has the best battery life. RAM and HDD upgrade is a cakewalk.
I like my 1002ha, but the battery life is probably half that of the 1000he. -

you know what? I was watching a video of the 1005HA, and I have a feeling it's going to come standard with a 3-cell battery that won't get as much life as the 1000HE...and that the 6-cell battery will be expensive. as such, I have a good feeling the 1005HA will be priced noticeably above what we can get a 1000HE for...and though it's not as sexy, all the internals are the same.
we'll see... -
From what I understand there are two variations of the 1005ha (the 1005ha-m and 1005ha-h). The "-m" has a lower 6 cell battery (good for ~8 hrs) and an N270 processor as opposed to the N280 in the "-h" which also gains a USB port, Bluetooth, and a higher capacity 6 cell (good for ~10.5 hrs). The "-h" with the higher capacity 6 cell was ~$473 and the "-m" is $400. Where the three cell battery comes in I don't know but it is listed as an option. So it *looks* as if the 6 cell is standard but they clearly want you tempted into buying the "-h" because the "-m" is gimped.
It looks like if you want the 9.5 (advertised) battery life you'd get with the 1000he you are going to spend closer to $500, so the 1000he is probably the better value. The track pad and keyboard are different in the 1005ha/1008ha as well (bigger right shift key on the latter if that means anything). Of course the prices could change. At this point they are just conversion estimates from the Euro.
Here is a nice video of the 1005ha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeLt...005ha-hands-on-video/&feature=player_embedded
I just hope it comes out fairly soon. I'm currently in Canada and I'd have my mom bring it up with her when she comes to visit me in July to save $100. -
Touchpad on my 1002ha is awesome.
I don't like the look of the one on the 1008ha, how it shares the same material as the body. -
I'm waiting for the 1005HA. As for release I've heard anywhere from mid June to late July.
To me it looks like a lighter and sleeker version of the 1000HE (specs wise). -
After further deliberation I am actually leaning towards the 1000he, only because the full fledged 1005ha will be closer to $500 and I don't really want to spend that much on a "netbook." The aesthetics isn't a huge issue for me.
which EEE PC should I get ?
