Screen Specifics
11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?
a. WXGA 1280x800 or occasionally 1280x768; For people who like big text and icons that are easy to read. Less stuff fits on the screen, which translates into more scrolling.
b. WXGA+ 1440x900; A modest bump over WXGA. Text and icons are a bit smaller. A little more stuff fits on the screen.
c. WSXGA+ 1680x1050; The middle ground. Again, text and icons are smaller than WXGA+, and more stuff fits onto the screen. Good for having applications open side by side, like a web browser while playing a video.
d. WUXGA - 1920x1200; Very small text and icons, that can be hard to read. Lots of stuff fits on the screen, which means less scrolling. Good for applications that require a high level of detail like CAD or Photo Editing.
Whatevers best for gaming
12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
doesn't matter but I heard that glossy is bad in light because of glare

16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?
Only to play computer games and watch DVDs and i could use a DVD burner but i don't need it

Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
None of the games you want to play are that demanding.
Go with the N81 you will get a 14" notebook with a 4650 and you still will be able to play those games.
But if you want ultimate power go with the Asus G51VX. -
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Ahhh, back to school season has arrived again and these topics will start showing up en masse
There is no way you are going to want to deal with hauling around a 17" notebook all around a college campus for taking notes.
The G51 is a capable system but is suspect in this regard as well, as it is closer in size/weight to the 17" size than 15", but if you get the right backpack then..... -
I measure my older G50 and new G51 chasis and they are 16.1 from one corner of the lcd bezel to the other.
-
Keep i mind that powerful GPUs come at a cost - low battery capacity. If you will be taking your G51 with you to class, it will die after two lectures and some. I also found it difficult to fit a 15.4 inch frame onto one of those small fold-away tables used in a lot of lecture halls. A 17'' will be a huge drag.
If you can live with that, G51 should be a good choice because it manages to encompass powerful components and relative mobility at a reasonable price.
EDIT: Also it seems that G51's produce lots of heat. I can imagine this laptop generating enough heat during simple internet surfing and office application usage to force it to spin its fans quite loudly. Can be bothersome in a quite environment. -
Our lecture halls were loaded with outlets, so I never had to worry about battery consumption all that much. Take that into consideration if possible.
