If you do, how is the quality? I am not an audiophile and not looking for bass or anything of the sort. I just want to make sure they are loud enough and clear.
I was looking at a little bit ago a Toshiba E205 Best Buy Blue Label and the speakers were HORRIBLE. They were placed underneath and even at max volume you couldnt hear them. I want to make sure these Altec Lansing speakers are pretty loud and clear for laptop speakers.
The Asus I am looking at is the Asus U43JC with 2w Altec Lansing speakers

All built in speakers of those sizes suk big time no matter what type or maker, go to a store and you can test them all.
Get a headset for on the go and a good 5.1 speaker set for home.
Builtin speakers are just good to do the job if there is nothing else. -
Actually, there is the Dell Best Buy Blue Label model 15z that just has two speakers and they are very loud and clear. The rest of the laptop is a big piece of garbage. But, those speakers are quality. I am not looking for surround sound, high performance speakers.
For laptop speakers, I am looking for sound that is pretty loud that I can actually hear the sound and its clear. Thats all I am looking for in laptop speakers. -
my asus ul30a has altec lansing speakers and they sound horrible.

I have altec Lansing in my Asus G60JX and sounds in general on the laptop are very quiet with no way of turning up the volume higher.
I'm satisfied with how they sound overall, just disapointed about them being a little soft. -
Same here on my G60VX there decent but nothing to right home about, then again I always use a good pair of earbuds when I want to listen to anything like music or movies.

How do you check what type of speakers you have?

I look at the sticker on the palmrest

On my g51vx-a1 they sound as I would have expected. Only covering the higher end frequency. Maybe a higher mid range to crystal clear highs. As for volume level's, what I would expect for speakers the size of a dime. They go as loud as dime sized speakers can which isn't bad. People have complained for being too quiet on g51's but mine seem fine. They go quite loud but can begin to distort when playing certain sounds very loud. I found it I'm watching a uTube video that has a lot of bass and midrange they can start to crackle if I put the volume too high.
For listening to my trance or electronic type music or classical/piano/jazz they are perfect for me. Electronic type music sounds so clear and crisp they are exactly what I wanted for background music as I'm working or surfing the net. I'm totally satisfied with the clarity and volume as well. Not something I would crank heavy music on I'd use speakers for that. -
I've got a G50vt and they sound really good on the high notes but are missing a lot of lower-midrange and have zero bass. Turning up the 250Hz and 500Hz sliders on a graphic EQ really helps bring out the lower end of their frequency response.

My G72GX has pretty decent speakers, they sound loud and clear, but of course, if you use a good set of headphones or earphones you can notice the difference in sound quality.

My G73's speakers work great and can get rather loud. Bass is decent enough with a 1 inch or so sub-woofer and no Creative gack.

Nice avatar Kalim
Great Question, I could not find it in windows 7, but paladin44 posted in an early thread that the G73JH-A1 comes with 2 AL speakers plus sub woofer.
