    I just checked the z63a barebone on geared2play, rjtech and proportable.

    for the barebone, on geared2play it's only 600 dollars, rjtech is at 700 dollars and proportable is at 820 dollars.

    i heard a lot of people talking about buying from proportable, but why? why the hell is the price difference so big?

    :confused:

    Proportable will match barebones pricing on some models i believe. You also have to know if thats with a dvdrw or not the 600 one comes with just CDR. also proportable is a asus premier partner or something so i think they have to keep alittle higher prices to keep asus happy could be wrong though. I do know from being a dealer myself that certain brands do not like you putting their product below a certain price point no matter what the dealer cost is. some dealers will even drop u if they catch you. not saying asus is that way.

    I was considering adamant.com for a while. I was configuring a Z70Va on there for about $200 less that some others. Have you tried powernotebooks.com? That's Chaz's favorite I think.

    .... we don't sell just a barebone..... we're a full service company and although on the configuration pages you can drop a system down to basically a "barebone" - the options are only there for those who maybe don't want ram, or don't want a hard drive......

    .... we WARRANTY our systems..... you buy a barebone as a barebone and you're on your own..... at this time of year certain models may be overstocked and people want to just get rid of them......... As SRD said, for NBR members we will sell a barebone, but you don't get one by configuring it on our site that way.

    Yeah... ProPortable doesn't charge more just because they want more profit - their service is very highly praised and the fact that Justin, the CEO, has twice as many posts on this forum as I do speaks for itself.
    When you buy from ProPortable, you're going to get quality parts and service.

    ... well, first though... that's not the reason - price out any system and with the same specs, the prices are going to be similar - we just don't spec out barebones in the same way they're trying to compare...

    Alright, thanks for the information guys.

    @ceiph - i didn't forget about c9tech, i didn't actually KNOW about c9tech. thx for telling me about it ^^

    @cygnus- i tried powernotebooks.com, though i don't believe they have asus barebones. thx for telling me about adamant.com by the way.

    @Proportable - my bad for not knowing. I just wasn't sure why you guys are so popular (on the forum, and on that retailer rating site). If unchecking the options down to a barebone is the incorrect way, could you tell me how I could do it correct and just actually get a barebone? Thank you.

    Well, you don't get it through the site..... like I said, we're about service and we sell computers....... not barebones, but if you want a barebone, you can contact me directly and I'll match most places........ plus there may be some member discounts I can help you with as well.... as right now you probably qualify for them.

    i've bothered eddie/geared2play about a laptop i had my eyes on as well (z33ae). but after lots of answers from eddie and info digging i did on my own, i'll have to wait for the shiny new z35f (whenever that will come out). i don't know much about proportable (though they seem like very informative & kind chaps), but geared2play is pretty good from what i've seen so far. cheers....

    As you will the same here and you should expect so. My posts here dont outnumber Justins but you guys are killing my blackberry with ims so i have to ration my time accordingly. You are right though. There are really a hand full of asus vendors who really really know what they are doing and who provide 100% service and offer very unique mods and product. You dont have to look far to find them. I wouldnt sling mud at justin thats like throwing a jab at a wall. Maybee the occasional sucker punch but its all in respectah :)

    speaking of that, i'm surprised that you and agear are the only vendors out there offering the Z61a. I'm helping a good friend look for her next laptop and I think the z61a is perfect for her. she wants a lappy that's got good quality, def no vid card (so she doesn't get tempted to game, this is for school use), matte display, and a modular bay for a 2nd battery. i'm trying to get her build up her posts at NBR to take advantage of your member discount :)
