This is a duplicate of a post I made in the UL20A owners' lounge thread but I figured some other Asus owners with similar models might be able to add some insight so hopefully I'm casting a wider net here.
Does anyone know if a 12.5mm hdd will fit in the Asus UL20A? I opened it up and tried to gauge but all I could tell was that it would definitely be a tight fit that could go either way.
Looking at dropping in the 1TB Hitachi that's on sale for $72 today
Thanks

I don't know for sure, but I doubt it. I had one of their EEE models that is shaped the same (almost exactly!) and it was a really tight squeeze.
Having said that, the tight squeeze was due to the hard drive caddy, not the laptop case itself - so if you had some other way to secure it, it might. -
Ive never seen a asus owner that had a 12.5 mm hdd installed in any laptop.

You might want to ask in the owners forum. -
my g72 cant in either bay
however, in the main bay with the cpu, the backing could be cut out and it could fit one. it was meant for a 9.5 mm drive though. -
The G50VT has a 12.5mm bay, too
will a 12.5mm HDD fit in the Asus UL20A?
