No one knows atm, even if somone knew there is NDA lifeted on oct18, so you might not get much info about it yet, my guess is that asus will have the same or very similar cooling setup, so i would think so. Just wait 7 more days to see what they gona offer.

Let's see: same heatsink, same chassis, no GT200 GPU's until next summer. Looks like it's going to be a downclocked GTX 260M.

Im a little worried though, with the Sager NP8690 with its massive copper 2 fan setup, the i7 seems to be going high ( 3dmark06 n Crysis), im really wondering whats gona happen with the G51J cooling setup.

89 is certainly too high for the CPU. Maybe that model had poorly applied paste..? Was the i7 overclocked at the highest setting i.e 1.6-2.8 GHz?

Wats thr TDP for the i7 in the new G51J?

Not too many details were given. Also, XoticPC never took the heatsink off the i7 when they received the final production review model from Sager. And Sager is notorious for putting a huge glob of thermal paste on all their machines.

Poorly applied thermal paste can greatly affect temperatures, especially on such a large die on the i7.

Is there some way to compare how much an optimal paste job would affect the temperatures? That 89C on the Crysis benchmark is a bit... high.

But the 280m is chilling out, though.

I'm guessing the heatsink wasn't making proper contact with the CPU and that's why the temps were off. There's no way the mobile i7 runs that hot on such a well cooled system. If it does, then these lower end systems from Dell/HP are going to be in huge trouble. Hell the G51J will be in big trouble as well.

Trouble isn't the right word, if that Sager test is apparent of the i7s in general. When GenTech technicians are installing your OS they'll melt the computer.
