anyone manage to get windows 7 nvidia drivers running on any n80s with the 9650gt? ive tried 32 bit and 64 bit windows 7 (got the 3 pack where you can use any combination of 3 active at a time). any windows 7 drivers cause repeated crashing and a sparkly artifact effect. i have to use old vista drivers, the earliest on the asus website for this notebook actually..... anyone got them working on this notebook?

An alternative I frequently promote are drivers from laptopvideo2go for your nvidia needs.

tried it... about a month ago i tried using the latest desktop drivers with there modified inf... tried the ones windows auto finds, tried the ones on asus website, and the ones on the nvidia website.... at this point im more trying to figure out whats going on..... is the 9650 some weird rebrand that i have to grab a different generation (i know nvidia likes to just change the first number and call it a new generation rather than actually making new cards) of driver, or is it just a weird card that wont have a working windows 7 one.... is there a feature causing this like how avivo used to freak out some of the early mobility x1000s..... cause id kinda like to get the performance benefits of using a modern driver that is made for my os.... but nothing is working. ohhh what id do to trade this in for one of the newer ones with the 4650s atis have never given me these problems lol.

If none of them work, I might actually speculate it to be not a problem with the drivers.

Im a little confused what everyone is talking about. I installed win 7 64 professional on my asus n80 with no problems.

I installed windows 7 professional. Audio worked right away, Network worked right away. downloaded and installed windows 7 camera driver and camera program from asus site. Installed ATK drivers and all the drivers from that folder from asus website. All hotkeys and animations now work. Installed win 7 video drivers from asus. turned aero on. installed SD card drivers from asus site.

everything works, everything running. only exception is fingerprint scanner. there are drivers available for it but I always rub it by accident so I chose not to install it.

I had problems with nvidias newest drivers but not to bad with the ones from asus. I dont see any sparkles or anomaly's.

maybe there is an issue I havent run into yet?

Yeah, I've had the same problem for a while too. Apparently, the problem lies in the gpu clock speed / voltage. Its undervolted by 0.01 or something like that which causes all the weird red lines on screen and constant driver failure. I think all drivers starting from 179.14 and above will cause this problem.

Oh, anybody is free to correct or add to the info I have stated above. I'm just recalling all of this stuff from my head so some of it might be false.

Anyways, I've finally found the fix to it. A legit fix (apart from the modded bios that you could have used created by someone on the laptopvideo2go site). If you go onto the Asus website and the download page for your n80 laptop, there is a new bios update.

    BIOS 209
    Update NVIDIA VBIOS

Download this and extract. You'll need to flash your bios with this update now and I suggest you use Easy Flash in the bios utility to do this.

I've done this to my own laptop 2 days ago and its safe to say that the bios fixes the nvidia driver issue. I'm currently using the latest nvidia drivers with no problems!
