Hello,
i recently upgraded my Asus x83vb laptop from home premium 64 to windows 7 64 and it installed fine.
Then, on the first boot up, i get a big red error message and says Could not find file recovery.dat
now i researched the prob and found out that its because of the recovery partition. So the solution would be to delete that partition. The problem is that i cannot access the desktop to delete it.
so how can i delete the partition if i cannot access the desktop or cmd?

download and burn the Gparted Live CD http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php

ok, i burned a cd and that didnt work and i created a bootable usb and that didnt work either.
Nothing happens when i put either of those in my Laptop. It simply goes to the ERROR screen and nothing. -
did you enter your bios and set either the USB device or your CD drive as the first boot device by looking for "Boot priority" or similar?

How can i access the bios. Here's a play by play of what happens.
1.White letters and a White bar at the bottom of the screen and it says "Windows is loading files..."
2. Goes to the microsoft loading screen with green loading bar.
3. screen with gray background and mouse cursor.
4. Screen with big red "ERROR" on it.
then nothing happens after that..
how can i enter my bios.
and whatever key i hit nothing happens either. -
When you first press the power button, tap F2 until it brings you to the bios.

THANK YOU!!!!
now its working fine
again THANKS!!! -
An easy solution. Press F8 for Advanced boot options, choose Repair your computer and then do a Startup repair. That worked for me.

& no need for deleting the recovery partition
